Doug Tallamy Press Release
Oklahoma City-Doug Tallamy, acclaimed author of two books about native plants will be speaking at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 22 at OSU/OKC on the third floor of the Student Center, 900 N Portland.
A hero to native plant enthusiasts and a dynamic speaker, Tallamy is professor and chair of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware. His book Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants won the Silver Medal from the Garden Writer’s Association and is credited with changing how many gardeners view their landscape and plant choices. He is coauthor with Rick Darke of a new publication, The Living Landscape, which explains how to create a wildlife-friendly sustainable landscape.
Tallamy writes,” You have probably never thought of your property as a wildlife preserve representing the last chance we have to sustain plants and animals that were once common throughout the US. But that is exactly the role our suburban and urban landscapes are now playing- and will play even more in the near future.”
Books will be available for purchase and signing before and after the event. Admission is free, donations are accepted. Tallamy will also be speaking in Tulsa on August 21.
